We recently designed a series of brochures for Habitat for Humanity Hillsborough County, Florida. Goal was to create a unique look for this local chapter and adhere to the new international branding guidelines. It all started by getting a clear picture of all their customers and their passions – those seeking home ownership for the first time; the volunteers looking for a way to give back; the private and corporate donors; and the customers at their two retail stores seeking great deals and a way to give back to their community.
As a freelance designer, I’m often asked to adhere to existing brand guidelines. Brand guidelines are a tool, a guide to to ensure consistency among all marketing materials throughout the organization. Good designers know how to create fresh designs that are also on brand.
Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough gives homeowners a hand-up, not a hand-out through sustainable home ownership combining education, “sweat equity”, quality construction and an affordable mortgage. Their two ReStore retail stores are a win-win for everyone in our community because all sales go to fund their programs. Visit their website to find out more at http://www.habitathillsborough.org
